The washhouse in the park of manor house Petzow, described to be in ruins as late as 1996, was restored at the end of the 20th century with funds from the European Union and the State of Brandenburg and has been serving as a museum for local history since 2001. The washhouse is the property of the city of Werder. A cooperation agreement was struck to permit the use for the museum. Since 2002, the Local Historical Association Petzow has been responsible for designing and operating the museum. The exhibition is divided into two parts: the history of the town of Petzow and the culture of washing clothes. Information panels, equipment, machines and images help visitors to visualize history.
