The Museum Perleberg was founded in 1905 and has been located in a former girls’ school from the early 19th century since 1931. The adjacent buildings were added later. Exhibits about the prehistory and early history, city history and the country life in the area around Perleberg are on display. The permanent exhibitions are dedicated to archeology within the Prignitz region, famous personalities such as the opera singer Lotte Lehmann, the history of the city of Perleberg and country folklore. The library, events and educational offers provide visitors with many options of engaging with the history of Perleberg. The colonial goods shop from 1896 is one of the most attractive showpieces.
