Museum and Gallery Falkensee

The Museum Falkensee combines an exhibition of local history with the life of and quotes by the famous poet Gertrud Kolmar (1894-1943) who was born Gertrud Chodziesner. She lived in Falkensee during the 1920s and 30s and was murdered in a concentration camp in 1943. The main focus of the permanent exhibition is the 20th century and the garden city movement, leisure destinations and branches of concentration camps, GDR history along the border as well as the opening of the border in 1989. A large collection of birds and butterflies provides insight into the natural and animal world of the region while an art gallery and facilities for special exhibitions from the existing collection inspire visitors to move about and exchange ideas.
